Unit 5: Emerging Technology & Program Design
IN THIS LESSON
I can use emerging technology to learn about planets.
In this lesson, we will be learning about emerging technology including 3D printers, space probes, and telescopes.
On day 1, we will watch 2 videos to learn about how 3D printers work in order to better understand how this emerging technology works. Then, I will teach you how to sign into and use Tinkercad.
You will then begin to create your moon phase models in Tinkercad.
As you create your model, make sure to only build on a workplane; nothing can be floating. Make sure that you are using heights of 1mm for your base, and everything has appropriate supports. Place a workplane between each layer.
On day 2, we will watch a video about how telescope and space probe technology has changed over time. We will discuss how older technology leads to new. You will then continue to create your moon phase model in Tinkercad.
Make sure to include your name on your model. Spin it all around to check for stray and floating pieces so that it can print successfully. Name your project your teacher’s name - your name.
